The Journal Adventure

I was very tired, and a bit discouraged. At home, bored and down on cash, I had absolutely nothing to do. So many things had gone downhill fast for me. And I just needed a diversion. I went to my book pile to search out something I could read. I needed a book at least one year old because I find it a waste of time reading a book that I can remember everything about.

I found a book alright, a book I haven’t ever read; because all I had ever done was write in it. It was my private spiritual journal. Every evening last year, I had got out the journal and a pen, and scribbled down all the activities of the day worth documenting, the bible passage for the day and what I learnt for the day.

Going through it was like a walking through a private park that I had designed, built and developed but hadn’t visited in a long time. So many high and low moments. Words coded in such a manner that only I could remember the whole incident. And then I was reminded; God has been so faithful, so many accidents I had escaped, so many troubles I have come through, and now they are even barely a memory right now. Healed. Restored. Delivered.

I encourage you to own a journal. When I first saw the prayer of Jabez journal by Bruce Wilkinson; I thought it was just a money making idea that he was milking. But I bought it anyway (it was cheap!) and I used it alongside the Prayer of Jabez devotional. Now I buy devitionals and journals without thinking about the cost. Because according to that old school gospel song.

"As I look back over my life
And I think things over
I can truly say that I’ve been blessed
I’ve got a testimony!"

Get a journal and trace your spiritual journey; soon and very soon, you’ll have so many testimonies.

Promoted for Rebellion

I just read the book of Daniel chapters 3-4. Imagine being called by your supervisor to bow to an idol or be thrown out of office- what would you say? However, if at that moment an angel had whispered into your ear that all you had to do was stand, and that if they tried to force you the idol would shatter into pieces proving that God is higher than all powers, I’m sure you’d have been more confident with your answer. But these 3 Hebrew boys did not have this privileged knowledge.

They just knew that they were NOT going to bow to the idol; come what may. They knew God could deliver them, but they did not know HOW or even if he WOULD. Are you this loyal to God, can He use you to show His might.

This is just an example of what will happen in the endtime; people will be challenged to obey the antichrist. Will you be able to stand up and rebel against the powers ruling then when you can’t stand up to a mere mortal who’s trying to compromise your faith?

Always keep your eye on the prize as Paul would say. The prize for rebellion against the devil’s wiles is promotion. The 3 Hebrew boys were promoted for trusting God by the very same person who had been so determined to kill them (Dan 3:30). Begin today to stand up for Christ no matter what!

TWFT- A cool devotional

I have been getting a lot of spiritual nourishment from the daily devotional The Word for Today, published by the Grace So Amazing Foundation. I always look forward to getting the next tri-monthly edition and I get worried when its the last day of the month and I haven't held my own copy of TWFT. The better part of this devotional is getting copies for people. The devotional is free so one can take a lot and share out to friends.

You can also subscribe for your daily readings online so you don't miss out or forget what you read in the morning (I'm speaking to myself here). Go to their site now- gsaf and subscribe.

Having the written copy you can follow the soul food bible readings. Now we're in Leviticus, and I'm pushing through to the end of this book, probably for the first time in my life! And that's because I have a target each day and I know millions of people around the world are reading along with me. So get your copy now and get real spiritual nourishment today.

It also wont hurt you to make a teeny donation. You don't do small stuff? Okay then, go over the edge and make it a big one.

What's the deal with all the punishing?

I dream of the day I can walk the streets without a single care in the world. Now that will be much later if at all, when I have lost all sense of feeling, when my teeth are loose and falling out and I’m like a child again, no longer blown around by winds of doctrines but resting assured in the promise of death.

Don’t worry; I know I’m morbid, but I’ll try to keep my thoughts to myself.

I’m reading the book of Isaiah, and boy did God work out some plan! Raise ‘em, shake ‘em when they misbehave, then raise them and then punish the ones you allowed to shake them in the first place. It was all one big circle and I felt He was being unfair, until I realized, he was just bringing them all together while making a solid point: as long as they did not worship Him they were open to attack. Israel or no Israel.

But as long as they worshiped Him, it didn't matter which country they came from, they were protected by Him. And the story remains the same.

Worship God no matter who you are and He’ll keep you safe from attack.

Have you read Isaiah?
